This course covers basic rehabilitation principles for recovering injured and orphaned small mammals with the goal of releasing them back into the wild as healthy individuals. Discussion focuses on the rehabilitation of Eastern Gray Squirrels, Eastern Cottontails, and Virginia Opossums. The course emphasizes critical information needed to successfully rehabilitate these species for release, including natural history, general care, proper nutrition, hand-feeding techniques, housing, and pre-release conditioning, and more.
